This project was fantastic! We had to make two pictures using stippling. Stippling is when you make a picture using just dots. No other type of brushwork or penmanship is allowed. Just lots and lots of dots.Everyone was having SUCH A HARD TIME coming up with the objects. The criteria was, “Alike in form and function.” Now, it took me a second because I wasn’t sure if there wasn’t some odd other requirement I was unaware of. But, eventually, our teacher said it could be nerdy. I internally guessed that she was hoping it’d be nerdy indeed. Perhaps, she’s seen so many of the same thing she was bored. Nerdy? I could definitely do nerdy. “How about a hard-drive and a purse?” “A person?” “No, a purse.” “A person???” “No, a purse.” “A person????” She was really confused. But I hadn’t stuttered. “Uhm… a clutch bag?” “Oh! Yes! That sounds fantastic.” After that, I helped 80% of the class come up with ideas because they were REALLY OVERTHINKING IT. A few were getting seriously upset. “I’m going to do a chicken leg and a coffin because meat is murder.” (Seriously, what?). “No.” “Why not?” “They’re not alike in form and function.” “What about me?” Another classmate asked. “A pterodactyl and a dragon?” “Dude,” I said, “don’t try so hard.” Anyways, good times.
